What Is a Float Session?
A float session takes place in shallow water with a high concentration of Epsom salt. The salt makes the water dense enough to support your body with little effort. The environment reduces outside light, sound, and movement so you have fewer distractions.
You remain in control of the session. Ask the Baseline team about the available lighting and sound options, and choose the setup that feels most comfortable.
What the First Few Minutes Feel Like
The unfamiliar part is often learning to stop adjusting your position. You may notice the sound of your breathing, thoughts moving quickly, or small areas of tension. Give yourself time to settle without expecting a particular mental state.
Some guests use the quiet for rest or reflection. Others simply enjoy time without a phone, conversation, or a schedule to manage. No specific emotional or physical result is guaranteed.
What the Epsom Salt Does
The practical purpose of the Epsom salt is buoyancy. Claims that a float delivers a meaningful dose of magnesium through the skin are not established enough to promise a health result. You do not need a magnesium claim to understand the main benefit of the setup: the dense water supports your body while you rest.
Before Your Float
- Follow the studio's shower and tank instructions.
- Avoid entering with open cuts or active skin irritation.
- Use the provided support options if your neck or body needs a different position.
- End the session at any time if you feel uncomfortable.
Float sessions are offered for general wellness and relaxation. They are not a treatment for anxiety, depression, chronic pain, or any other medical condition. Speak with a qualified health care professional if you have a condition or question that may affect whether floating is appropriate for you.
